Fitness Report #6

Hi everyone, <br /><br />Last week, I hit an epiphany regarding fitness. Since I did not weigh myself the week before, I just assumed the workout routine as usual (more cardio with a touch of yoga.) Two weeks passed and guess how much weight I lost?<br /><br />Two hundred freakin' grams!<br /><br />Yeah, that's right. I lost less than half a pound. In two weeks. It tore me apart. It was not as if I was sitting idly and eating moon cake or anything. And by the way, the Autumn Festival just passed and so far, I have eaten half a moon cake.<br /><br />I was doing all this and the scale just refused to move. It was a sad, sad day. I came home and felt like I should throw in the towel already. Why bother, right?<br /><br />But again, that ain't me. I am not a quitter. I am a fighter. I have made a commitment to exercise for 100 days and I am going to stick to it. Scale, this is my warning: move the number down or I'm gonna smash you!<br /><br />I gave myself some thought about this: why am I exercising? Am I doing it for my own health or for the vanity of seeing the number getting smaller on the scale?<br /><br />And the answer came to me: I do this for me. And I'm not going to compare myself against anybody, including my old past record. I used to lose 5 lbs a month but that was years ago. I am not that same person anymore but persistence always pays off. One step at a time. Also, I was PMS-ing and that may affect my weight loss.<br /><br />Here is how week 6 went:<br /><br /><ul><li><b>Monday:</b> Activate                                            40 min</li><li><b>Tuesday:</b> walking + 30 day shred                     40 min</li><li><b>Wednesday:</b> yoga+ walking                             1hr 20 min</li><li><b>Thursday:</b> break</li><li><b>Friday:</b> yoga conditioning                                 50 min</li><li><b>Saturday:</b> gym                                                 1 hr</li><li><b>Sunday:</b> gym                                                    50 min</li></ul><div>Total amount of time: <b><u>5 hours and 20 minutes.</u></b></div><div><br /></div><br />I actually exercised 6 days a week last week and it was not pretty. It was a bit tiring not to have the second day off. I found myself reaching for yoga to cushion the blow. Regardless of the number of days I exercised, I still felt like I didn't do it enough.<br /><br />So, this week I am going back to 5-day a week exercising routine. I'm adding weight training to my workouts to see if there is any changes.<br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;"><b><i>Fitness tip of the week:</i></b></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: yellow;">Whatever you do, don't give up. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;">Just keep pushing until you reach your goals.</span><span style="background-color: yellow;"></span><br /><br />Also, Kevin James Bennett has a kick-ass blog about <a href="http://makeup411.com/ea_info/id/393/">Makeup Myths</a> on Makeup 411. Hair Smooth as Silk with Sunsilk

Hi everybody, <br /><br />I grew up with Sunsilk and this brand was the first to introduce me to conditioner. Yeah, back when I was 8 or 9, we just washed our hair with shampoo and that was it. I remember my grandma had a bottle of Sunsilk that she locked in her dresser for years. It was her back-up shampoo that she would use for special occasions. That was how much she treasured it.<br /><br />Years passed and I was delighted when Sunsilk came to the U.S market. Albeit being the #1 hair care brand in the Asian market, it failed to make a note in the U.S and folded at the end of 2010. I tried it then and the formula was sub-par. So, when I came back to Asia, I made sure to give Sunsilk a try and I was blown away.<br /><br />The stuff is <i>that</i> good! For years, I wanted to find something that keeps my straight hair healthy without weighing it down. Yup, this stuff is black with mica shimmers and it took me a while to get used of the color. While both have floral scents, the conditioner is thicker than the shampoo, which I find to be on the runny side. The shampoo is mild and keeps my hair clean until the second day. I do notice a nice lift on the hair after I wake up. The shampoo itself is moisturizing enough for me and I only use the conditioner once in a while (maybe twice a week tops.)<br /><br />With that said, the conditioner is actually can be left on for two minutes before washing. It is highly moisturizing, thanks to the dimethicone in the ingredient list. In fact, both of them have dimethicone highly ranked in the lists to give the hair a glossy and smooth feeling.<br /><br />Since I've used this Sunsilk combo, my hair has been incredibly shiny. It also gets easier for me to comb and style my hair. I expected these products to make my hair look and feel greasy by the second day but that rarely happens, which is a big relief to me.<br /><br />Price-wise, Sunsilk shampoos are mid-range products in the price list. Since Unilever has a factory in Vietnam, the prices of products made in Vietnam are significantly cheaper. I've tried a few shampoos and conditioners to find Sunsilk as the brand that gives my hair the glossiest and sleekest look.<br /><br />Although Sunsilk is no longer available in mass-market stores in the U.S, you can still (hopefully) find it in Asian stores. Believe me, the formula is different in Asia and Unilever focuses on different hair types depending on the market. Pop o' Gold FOTD

Hi everyone, <br /><br />Believe it or not, I am attracted to gold eye shadows. As much as I've tried for years to make gold look good, it just makes me look like an alien. Or a gilded tin man. But I don't give up on gold, I just try harder. Today's FOTD, I used a dirty gold eyeshadow to accent my lazy cut the crease neutral look and the result was quite interesting. Fitness Report #5

Hi everyone, <br /><br />This morning, I realized I'm in the middle of week 6 of my self-imposed workout challenge. That's right, I'm only a few day shy of finishing a month and a half of exercising. I can't believe I can do it and do it with stride, too!<br /><br />Week 5 was a little bit slower than I thought. Due to the heat, I could not exercise as much. Also, I did not do the weekly weigh in. As much as I tried not to gauge my progress from the number in the scale, the InBody system actually gives me some ideas of what I need to do to improve my stat.<br /><br />What I did during week 5:<br /><br /><ul><li>Monday:            Yoga                 1hr</li><li>Tuesday:            break</li><li>Wednesday:       30 Day Shred    30 min</li><li>Thursday:           Activate             40 min</li><li>Friday:               Yoga                 30 min</li><li>Saturday:            break</li><li>Sunday:              Mix                   1hr 30 min</li></ul><div>Total amount of time: <b><u>4 hours 10 minutes</u></b></div><div><br /></div><div>While the numbers are not huge as they were in week 4, I am happy that I can exercise. 30 Day Shred is getting a tiny bit easier as I don't feel as sore the next day. Also, I did the whole Zumba Mix DVD, which is the first since it's a long and intense workout.</div><div><br /></div><div><i><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Fitness tip of the week:</span></b></i> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta; font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: x-large;">Smile!</span></div><div><br /></div><div>When you go to the gym, you see people grunting and moaning and making faces while lifting weight. Do they look younger and more attractive while doing so? Nope! You use more muscles on your face when frowning than smiling. More muscles used = more wrinkles in the future. We don't want that, do we?</div><div><br /></div><div>So smile, even when you lift the heaviest weight and your muscles are burning. I can barely see the color. Also, since the shimmers are very fine, I don't feel them at all. While it is a gloss, Astra Illuminante 4Ever is quite moisturizing. I found myself reaching for it quite a lot when I could not find a lip balm. The lasting power is decent for a gloss. It is there unless you do a lot of excessive drinking and eating.<br /><br />This gloss, despite how awesome it is, comes with a flaw: it smells like Lancome Tresor. Really, that's the scent of this gloss. It fades away after 10 minutes and takes a while to get used to but still, the Illuminante lip gloss is a wonderful product.<br /><br />To recap, the Astra Illuminante 4Ever lip gloss in shade number 4 is an awesomely glossy product. It goes sheer by itself and enhances the shine when applying on top of lipstick. Also, it is moisturizing and can be used without a lip balm. The lasting power is decent and it smells like Tresor.<br /><br />If you can find it, please get it. As a cool-tone girl, warm colors tend to make me look waaay too rosy. But once in a while, I'd like to break out of the comfort zone and do something different. It's not too garish or jarring at all, despite Siren being really loud.
